Contest Three: Funniest Vacation Story

These stories made me smile and laugh!

  • Analystical

On a beach holiday, I confidently booked a "cozy seaside bungalow." Turns out "cozy" meant the size of a large shoebox and "seaside" meant "the sea occasionally visits." At 3 a.m., a rogue wave slapped the door open like the ocean had lost its keys and needed a couch. I leapt out of bed, heroic and panicked, shouting "I've got this!" while wrestling a beach towel against the tide like it was an aggressive octopus. My flip-flops floated past me, clearly choosing a better life. By morning, I was damp, defeated, and eating breakfast with a lifeguard who said, "Happens all the time." I nodded, pretending this was all part of the relaxing package.

I was going on vacation to New Zealand to visit my cousins. They suggested the idea of visiting a farm considering I had never been to one at that time. When we arrived there was a huge flock of sheep just walking around. My cousins handed me a bucket of pellets and I was confused what to do with the bucket. All of a sudden, I look up and see all the sheep charging at me. I start screaming and running away with the bucket while the sheep chase me around the farm. My cousins were standing on the side laughing and while I'm crying out for help they shout back at me that I'm supposed to feed them, not run a marathon.

  • Krystal--

On vacation, my friends invited me to a "quick dip" in the hotel pool. I agreed, forgetting one small detail: I do not know how to swim. At all. I stayed firmly in the shallow end, pretending to "vibe," when someone splashed me and my foot slipped off the ledge. I immediately panicked, flailing like I'd fallen into the open ocean-even though the water was barely chest-deep. A lifeguard blew the whistle. Everyone froze. He stared at me, then gently said, "You can stand up." I stood up. The silence was so loud. My friends have never let me forget it. Every vacation since, someone asks if I need floaties "just in case." For the record, I do.

I used to love to go to the beach with my family for our vacation, we love the salty waters & riding the water rides in the sea, We usually go for the para-sailing (gets pulled by the boat) . I always wanted to ride the banana boat (A banana floate that gets pulled at high speed with a boat) I've been telling my grandpa about it, until finally I GET TO RIDE THE BANANA BOAT. We all got on the banana boat and it was fun. BUT it wasnt just fast enough for me. So like I pleaded to go faster until they did, IT WAS SO FAST I COULD NOT HOLD ON that I eventually got YEETED from the boat ( was a kid at that time) but I survived to live and tell this story. Till this day, my relatives remembers me as the speedy banana rider that got yeeted.

I know you may have watched the Home Alone movies and honestly, my expirence is somewhat the same. I have been accidentally left behind when my family was on vacation---- not 4 but 5 times. I mean at this point, do my parents hate me? I was actually thinking about this the other day, but here is my story:

I am 7 years old in this story. My family was off to vacation to go to Oahu, Hawaii. I was SO excited to go that I had peed myself in the car. When we got out of the car at the airport, I had thought I was following my mom, but a lady that looked literally identical to my moms hair, who was right infront of me. I had given the flight attendant in the airport my plane ticket. I boarded a plane to Tokyo, Japan. I found out the second the plane landed that I was in Japan and not Hawaii. Also, suspiciously long ride. I begged for help in the Japan airport. This kind woman guided me to a nearby private space and asked me what happened. She said exactly this, "ok ok calm down. Dear, what happened? Where are your parents?" In my brain I was like How do I answer this question? Just say they are in Hawaii? They phoned the police, and my parents were at the airport with me the next two days over. Thats my story! I am 19 years old now and I am completely fine! I go to the airport now sometimes to remind me that I was lucky to find such amazing help. I hope you enjoyed my story Mya!!!!

You proved that even short moments can turn into something memorable.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared a piece of their creativity with me. Vacation Camp wouldn't have been the same without you.

Stay stylish! Xx
